President elect Donald Trump wants Goldman Sachs president & COO Gary Cohn as the Director of his National Economic Council.

“As my top economic advisor, Gary Cohn is going to put his talents as a highly successful businessman to work for the American people,” Trump said in a statement.

Trump said that Cohn would help him grow wages for workers and stop jobs from going overseas.

“He fully understands the economy and will use all of his vast knowledge and experience to make sure the American people start winning again,” he said.

As reported earlier, Cohn is the first Trump appointee who currently works at the Wall Street bank that was bailed out by the federal government in 2008. Four other advisers have connections to the Goldman Sachs bank including Treasury Secretary nominee Steve Mnuchin.

But Cohn specified that he would focus primarily on the president elect’s agenda.

“I share President-elect Trump’s vision of making sure every American worker has a secure place in a thriving economy, and we will be completely committed to building a nation of strength, growth and prosperity,” he said in a statement.
