President Donald Trump commented on failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s refusal to exit the political arena after losing spectacularly in the 2016 presidential election.

“How many reasons did she give for losing the election? Like every week there was a different reason, right?” he asked a crowd of supporters in South Carolina on Monday. “She blamed everybody for losing the election except for one person, herself.”

Trump said that he was willing to move on from Clinton after the election, but that his former opponent wrote a book and went on a book tour.

But he said that Clinton was a formidable political opponent.

“They say she was a bad candidate, I mean, honestly she was a tough candidate,” he said. “She wasn’t a bad candidate, but they refused to say that I was a good candidate. They refused.”

Clinton complained about the electoral college on Monday, during a speech in the United Kingdom, noting that she got three million more votes than Trump.

“Populists can stay in power by mobilizing a fervent base,” she said, acknowledging that “we will leave discussions of American Electoral College for another day.”

She said that populist leaders like Trump posed a threat to the “survival of democratic institutions.”
