Pastor and His Wife Shoot Alleged Home Intruder Dead

A pastor and his wife opened fire and killed an alleged home intruder while he was breaking into their house in Houston, Texas.

KHOU 11 reports that the pastor, Jeff Powers, said he and his wife both heard strange sounds as the suspect allegedly moved through the backyard then broke through a rear door. ABC 13 reports that Powers and his wife both shot, killing the suspect, then “placed the guns on the ground and waited for officers to arrive.”

ABC News quoted police saying:

A preliminary investigation revealed the residents were asleep in their bed when they were awakened by a loud noise. While investigating the cause of the noise, they noticed their backyard gate was opened and saw a male (suspect) in their back yard. The suspect then forced his way and gained entry into the residence. The residents, in fear for their lives, discharged their firearms several times, striking the suspect.

The home in which Powers and his wife shot the suspect is a United Methodist Church parsonage.
