Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) is calling to defund schools after too many teachers and professors celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
“Charlie Kirk spent his life defending free speech and standing for faith, family, and freedom, while inspiring young Americans to stand up for their beliefs,” Mace said in a statement.
“Educators who celebrate his assassination are not just unfit, they’re dangerous, and they will not collect paychecks on the backs of American taxpayers,” she continued, ultimately urging the U.S. Department of Education to slash funding to these entities.
The press release listed several examples of teachers in the congresswoman’s own state who have been exposed for their vile and repulsive remarks in the wake of Kirk’s horrific public murder.
One teacher from Greenville County Schools, for example, “openly celebrated Kirk’s death” and was put on administrative leave as a result. He stated after Kirk’s death that “America became greater today.”
Additionally, three professors at Clemson University “publicly cheered Kirk’s assassination,” the press release continues, providing a few more examples.
Breitbart News has also documented some of the individuals across the country that celebrated Kirk’s death. An assistant cheer coach at Meridian High School in Meridian, Idaho, for example, posted in a video after the shooting, “You fucking got what you fucking deserve. I just saw the fucking video, it looks like you got shot in the neck or chest.”
She has been identified as Annika Rutz and has since been fired.
Other instances include a special education teacher at King Elementary School in Framingham, Massachusetts, as well as a teacher at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, Massachusetts, among others:
A typical example, according to a Libs of TikTok post, is a special education teacher named Samantha Marengo at King Elementary School in Framingham, Massachusetts, 20 miles west of Boston. The teacher reportedly posted a video online of herself grinning and singing “God Bless America” while standing before a breaking news report on Kirk’s assassination in Utah.
At the Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, just north of Worcester, Massachusetts, a teacher has been placed on “administrative leave” for an Instagram post saying, “we’re NOT offering sympathy,” in a post also shared by Libs of TikTok.
As a result of such despicable behavior, Mace is calling for the DOE to “cut off every dime of federal funding from schools refusing to act against staff who excuse or glorify the murder of Charlie Kirk,” per the press release.
