Lance Armstrong to Whistleblower: 'I Never Called You Fat'

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Lance Armstrong said he felt he could accuse Betsy Andreu of telling lies–when she was not–simply because she said Armstrong called her “fat.” Armstrong insisted he never said Andreu was “fat.”

When Betsy Andreu testified–under oath–that she heard Lance Armstrong in 1996 admit to having used performance-enhancing drugs before he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, Armstrong blackballed her husband’s cycling career and terrorized Betsy.

He dragged her name through the mud. And his henchman left a voicemail on her phone threatening to bash her head in with a baseball bat.

Armstrong told Oprah he felt he could accuse Andreu of not telling the truth–even when she was doing so–because Andreu had said Armstrong called her fat.

“Listen, I called you crazy. I called you a bitch, I called you all these things, but I never called you fat,” Armstrong said

Armstrong if those who accused him of doping even said one minor thing that was not true, he felt he had the right of saying they were liars.

After listening to the interview, Andreu–whose name was dragged through the mud simply for telling the truth–was enraged.

“I guess we know why I was [a bitch] all these years, putting up with that,” Betsy said on CNN after Armstrong’s interview. “How was I supposed to act? Sweet as apple pie? … That exchange right there, it has me furious.”
