The father of an NBA player who got involved in an on-court scuffle is docking his son’s allowance to teach him a lesson to not get involved in NBA skirmishes.
When Mychal Thompson, the former Lakers player and current broadcaster who is the father of Golden State Warriors player Klay Thompson, saw his son get involved in the melee between the Pacers and the Warriors on Tuesday, he was outraged. He said he yelled that his son was an “idiot” while watching the game and then recorded the incident to later show to his wife, who was out at buying dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.
The Thompsons take care of their son’s finances to ensure the player’s finances are sound and he is not taken advantage of by financial consultants who may not have his best interests at heart.
“He will [find out he’s been fined by us] when he sees that cash envelope show up a little short this week,” he said.
Mychal said Klay pays about $3,ooo a week and rent and needs about $300 a week for “walking around money.”
When the host asked Thompson what would happen if his son needed to take a girl on a nice date this week, Mychal said Klay would have to order some pizza or get some wine from the grocery store.
