The Miami Heat made it 19 wins in a row by dominating the Atlanta Hawks 98-81, giving LeBron James supporters another talking point as the streak topped Michael Jordan’s best streak ever. However, with Dwyane Wade continuing his torrid streak with another 23 points Tuesday night, the comparisons of Wade and Scottie Pippen may also emerge. Here are the comparisons of both dynamic duos, projecting out Wade and James over the last quarter of the season.
Player | Age | FG% | 3P% | FT% | Reb | AST | STL | BLK | PTS |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Michael Jordan | 32 | 50% | 43% | 83% | 543 | 352 | 180 | 42 | 2491 |
LeBron James (82 games) | 28 | 56% | 40% | 75% | 658 | 577 | 138 | 69 | 2168 |
Scottie Pippen | 30 | 46% | 37% | 68% | 496 | 452 | 133 | 57 | 1496 |
Dwyane Wade (82 games) | 31 | 52% | 26% | 75% | 376 | 372 | 136 | 63 | 1649 |
James relied on Wade heavily, and James only scored 15 points Tuesday. The Heat now has the best record in the NBA at 48-14, but will come nowhere close to the 1995-96 Bulls 72-10 mark. However, during the streak the Heat went into Oklahoma City and crushed the defending Western Conference Champ, and defeated the two teams that had been 2-0 against them earlier in the season–the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.
While no one doubts the Heat will lose more games this year, the question that is being asked is what team can hope to beat them four times in seven games in the playoffs.
