Sergio: I'm the Victim

After hitting the ball in the water three times on the final two holes after he was tied with Tiger Woods in the final round of the Players Championship on Sunday, Sergio Garcia was asked about his flap with Woods the day before and claimed he was the victim.

“It sounds like I was the bad guy here,” Garcia said. “I was the victim.”

Woods won the Players Championship on Sunday as Garcia collapsed, playing the last two holes at 6-over par.

On Saturday, Garcia and Woods exchanged words through the media after a rain-shortened round. Garcia blamed Woods for his errant approach shot on the second hole that led to his making a bogey.

Even though replays show crowd noise Woods allegedly caused came while Garcia was on top of the ball and not during his backswing, Garcia snapped at Woods, saying Woods should have been more “careful.”

Woods retorted that he was not surprised the Spaniard was “complaining.”

The two were paired on Saturday and barely spoke to each other during their round.
