All dogs go to heaven, but before they do, they can now enjoy a Sunday baseball game at Chase Field in Phoenix.

For 13 Sunday games this summer, the Arizona Diamondbacks andPetSmart, Inc. offer “Dog Days of Summer,” in which the PetSmart Patio sitting behind the left-center field wall will allow dog owners to watch the game with their pets. Directly behind them, the PetSmart Park, an outdoor and indoor (air conditioned) dog area, will be offered for the dogs to run around. The outdoor park comes complete with a baseball diamond and a grassy outfield.

It gets even better for the canines; dog-friendly ice cream topped with kibble and other pet treats will be handed out, as well as pet owners receiving a PetSmart “Doggie Bag.” complete with free items from PetSmart.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a dog yet. A PetSmart adoption spot will offer adoptable dogs with the help of PetSmart Charities and PetSmart’s local animal adoption partners.

Eran Cohen, chief customer experience officer, PetSmart, Inc., said:

We are seeing more and more establishments open up their facilities to pets – whether it’s coffee shops, retail stores, hotels or restaurants. We at PetSmart truly value the time pet parents spend with their beloved pets, and we want to help enrich the experiences they share together – including a baseball game. PetSmart’s home office is based right here in Phoenix, and we are thrilled to partner with the D-backs, our hometown team, on this first-ever ballpark experience with a season-long, dedicated space so fans can enjoy a Sunday ball game with their best friends or even expand their families through pet adoption.

Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall echoed:

We are excited to create a unique dog-friendly area of our ballpark and can think of no better way than to partner with Phoenix-based PetSmart. Bark at the Park has always been a popular event at Chase Field, and now we are thrilled to offer fans the opportunity to bring their dogs to our games every Sunday to a new destination designed specifically for them. For many households a pet is an extension of their families and the D-backs are excited to partner with PetSmart to provide a family-friendly atmosphere for all family members, including our canine friends.

The first Dog Days of Summer Sunday home game is April 10 when the Chicago Cubs come to town.

The Bark at the Park event, where dogs can accompany their owners inside the park, is scheduled for Sunday, May 1. Dogs must be at least six months old; owners must include a copy of current vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian and bring a dog license.

The Los Angeles Dodgers held a Bark in the Park event at Dodger Stadium in August 2014.
