Chicago Cubs ace and reigning National League Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta will be branded with a Coastal Carolina University tattoo after losing a College World Series bet to teammate Tommy La Stella.
La Stella’s Coastal Carolina Chanticleers eliminated Arrieta’s TCU Horned Frogs over the weekend, and Arrieta now must get tattooed. La Stella went to Coastal Carolina while Arrieta attended TCU.
“So happy for those kids,” La Stella reportedly said. “When we get back to Chicago we’ll get him [Arrieta] tatted up for life.”
La Stella added that he would record the tattooing if “it’s a body part that’s visually acceptable.”
Coastal Carolina plays Arizona for the title in the first game of the best-of-three series on Monday evening in Omaha. Arrieta takes the mound at Cincinnati. He threw his second career no-hitter at Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark in April
