Pitchers aren’t typically lauded for their ability to make amazing plays in the field. However, seeing your life flashing before your eyes normally brings out the best in people.

Milwaukee’s Jeremy Jeffress had just such a moment on Monday night.

On the mound in the 5th inning of Milwaukee’s win over Minnesota, Jeffress made a Matrix-like play on a scorching line drive off the bat of Willians Astudio.

Watch:

It would have been amazing enough had Jeffress merely avoided being decapitated by the ball. The fact that he also made the play, is beyond insane.

“I literally thought I was gone,” Jeffress said after the game. “I made a good pitch down in the zone, and he just hit it well. Hit it right back up the middle. I literally thought it was going over my head. Last second, I just reacted. That’s all I could do. [I saw the replay once], I don’t want to see it no more.”

He may not want to see it anymore, however, the video has definitely made the rounds on the internet.

“Jeffress laid down on the ground for several moments after the incident, and was removed from the game. But he said afterwards he’s “fine” health-wise. The team announced the decision to have him leave was made by manager Craig Counsel,” Sporting News reported.

Yeah, you can take the night off after that.
