Pursuit of Alleged Human Smuggler Ends in Roll-Over Crash near Border in Texas

A suspected migrant smuggler led Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and Kinney County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a high-speed pursuit that began near the small community of Brackettville, Texas. A trooper first spotted the suspect’s vehicle late Sunday night on a rural Farm-to-Market Road leading away from the border region. The pursuit ended when the suspected smuggler’s vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times, causing damage to a private ranch gate.

150 Migrants Found on One Texas Freight Train near Border

Kinney County Sheriff’s deputies found an estimated 150 migrants stowed away on a freight train near Spofford, Texas, hoping to escape the border region. The deputies summoned additional law enforcement officers to assist in boarding and searching the rail cars on Friday afternoon. In all, 86 migrants were removed from the train and turned over to the Border Patrol. An estimated 70 or more migrants managed to run onto nearby ranches and escape from the authorities.

Houston Teacher Charged with Smuggling Migrants near Border in Texas

A Houston Independent School District teacher is facing multiple felony charges related to an incident near the Texas border where police say he attempted to smuggle four migrants into the U.S. interior. Police in Kinney County say they stopped Brandon Alexis Gracia for a traffic violation near Eagle Pass, Texas, early last week and found migrants attempting to hide inside the vehicle.

Texas Border Sheriff Calls for Multi-State Response to Migrant Crisis

Kinney County, Texas, Sheriff Brad Coe issued a plea for other law enforcement agencies to help with the continued flow of migrants through his county. The sheriff sent a letter to fellow sheriffs in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas asking for available resources to be sent immediately to Kinney County.

Human Smuggling Crash Leaves Three Migrants Dead in Texas near Border

A single-vehicle crash in Kinney County, Texas, claimed the lives of three migrants. A passing motorist discovered the grisly scene near Brackettville on Sunday and immediately notified authorities.
