WSJ Promotes Op-ed Claiming Transgender Identity is a Mental Disorder

On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal’s online edition promoted a June 2014 op-ed by Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, which argues that transgender identity is a mental illness akin to bulimia and should not be treated with surgery, which can cause more harm than good. Though the article did not appear in the paper’s print edition, its promotion on the website coincides with the debate over former Olympian Bruce (Caitlyn) Jenner.

As we travel pell-mell into a “transhuman” future, one where humans physically remake themselves at will, we are now being presented with “transabled” individuals. People who want to purposefully cut off their arms and/or legs, people who want to blind themselves, and people who otherwise covet becoming disabled in one form or another should be allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies, and the taxpayer should pay for it.

Laverne Cox: Vanity Fair Pushed ‘Cisnormative Beauty Standards’ with Bruce Jenner Cover

One of the most famous transgender individuals in America Laverne Cox released a statement on Tumblr in which she agreed with Breitbart Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro. Shapiro said in a column for Breitbart on Tuesday that it is ridiculous to portray Bruce Jenner as a womanly woman on the cover of Vanity Fair in order to make it more credible that Jenner is a woman. There are many transgenders who look nothing like women.
