An illegal immigrant accused of having sex with an underage girl is now facing deportation after being handed over to federal immigration officials.

Kevin Cisneros, 19 years-old, has allegedly been involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, with local authorities only finding out about the relationship in January, according to the Trentonian. The age of consent in New Jersey is 16 years-old.

The Division of Child Protection and Permanency notified law enforcement officials of Cisneros’ relationship with the underage girl, as Cisneros was 18 years-old at the time.

U.S. Marshals eventually arrested Cisneros and he is charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Since Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers put a detainer (an immigration order asking that an illegal immigrant be released to federal officials) on Cisneros, the suspect has been handed over.

An ICE spokesperson told the Trentonian of Cisneros’ deportation, “this action is consistent with routine, targeted enforcement efforts carried out by ICE officers every day in which specific individuals are sought.”
