CNN's Amanpour: Iraq Undermines WH Narrative on Afghanistan

CNN Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour stated that the chaos in Iraq and reports that Iraqi forces abandoned the city of Mosul “seriously undermine the U.S. administration’s claim it has lift left behind forces that are capable of taking care of themselves and their country.”

She added that this undermined the Obama administration’s claim that Afghan forces will capable of keeping the country safe after US troops are withdrawn, saying “you’ve seen that hasn’t happened in Iraq and people are incredibly worried what might happen in Afghanistan when the U.S. pulls out of that. Those forces are not ready, no matter what the U.S. and others say, they are not ready and this is an absolute example of that.”
