Steve King: Impeachment 'Not a Practical Thing to Do,' Shouldn't be Taken off the Table

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said that impeaching President Barack Obama if he grants amnesty via executive order was “not a practical thing to do,” but shouldn’t be removed as an option entirely.

On Friday’s “Laura Ingraham Show,” he declared “we can’t take the advice [on impeachment] that says ‘don’t take the bait,’ because that means we unilaterally disarm.”  At the same time, he agreed with Ingraham’s rationale that impeachment would be “stupid,” and play into the Democratic Party’s hands, but maintained, “I’m not willing to unilaterally disarm … I wouldn’t take this I-word off the table either, although it is not a practical thing to do.”

He argued that there should be a special session of Congress if the president issued an executive order granting amnesty so that members of Congress would be forced to put their opinions on the record.

King previously said Congress should “sit down and have a serious look” at impeachment if Obama granted amnesty via executive order.
