Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” co-host Willie Geist asked former Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano why President Barack Obama seemed to be surprised by ISIS evidence by him calling them a JV team only a few months ago.
Napolitano said ISIS had been on everyone’s “radar screen” when she served in the Obama administration.
Napolitano who left her position in the Obama administration in the fall of 2013 said, “They have grown expediently in terms of size and capacity and capability. Yes, they were on everybody’s radar screen. They were there. The issue of travellers was already present. There were lots of discussions with how do you get the region and the countries in the region to participate in a more vital and a more vigorous manner. but were they the dominate source of conversation? Not at the time.”
