WH Doubles Down on Obama’s Christians ‘Terrible Deeds’ Comments

Tuesday at the White House press briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest doubled down on President Barack Obama’s comments last week at the National Prayer Breakfast, when he said, “Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember during Crusades and Inquisition people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country slavery and Jim Crow was all to often justified in the name of Christ.”

When Fox News’ chief White House correspondent Ed Henry asked if President Obama, “Is trying to make a moral equivalence between misdeeds by Christians and radical Islam, what’s happening today?”

Earnest replied, “I think what is unquestionably true, throughout history, we have seen individuals perpetrate terrible acts of violence in the name of religion, and regardless what religion you are trying to use to justify your terrible acts of violence, the responsibility of people of faith, of all faiths, is to step forward and say it’s wrong.”
