Santorum Suspends Campaign for Four Days

Rick Santorum’s campaign is floundering, and he knows it. The latest sign of that fact is Santorum’s decision to suspend his campaign for four days “so that the team has an opportunity to return to their homes and spend time with family and friends.”

The Pennsylvania primary is approaching quickly; it is scheduled for April 24. A four-day break less than three weeks prior to the primary bespeaks a lack of confidence. Rumors have been swirling that Santorum may break off his campaign completely before Pennsylvania to avoid a humiliating loss in his home state. Mitt Romney currently leads Santorum 42-37.
