Naked Budget Protesters Invade Boehner's Office

Nothing says seriousness and respect for the political process like invading the office of the Speaker of the House in the nude. And nothing says great media like covering such a protest by laughing along with the protesters while playing up the protest to the hilt.

That’s what happened today, as AIDS research protesters descended on Rep. John Boehner’s (R-OH) office in the Longworth building. Boehner wasn’t in at the time. They began chanting and screaming: “Boehner, Boehner, don’t be a dick! Budget cuts will make us sick!” Classy.

No wonder so many Americans believe that Republicans are to blame for the current impasse over the fiscal cliff, what with President Obama and the Democrats obviously doing their level best to quash all the crazies. Right now, the battle is between those who want to pay off naked AIDS protesters by taxing high income earners, and those who wish to cut programs in order to stop our budget collapse. The problem is that for every budget item, there is a constituency; for every tax increase, there is an unfriendly face to target.

Meanwhile, the media thinks nothing of bare protesters pushing barren ideas in an empty Speaker’s office. They go apoplectic when a reporter dares to yell a question to President Obama, but laugh along when people show up with their genitals hanging out in a planned photo op to humiliate the Speaker of the House.

Only after the media left were these smiling protesters arrested. Just another day in Washington D.C., where leftist civility involves indecent exposure, and media coverage involves plain indecency.
