On Friday, the Obama administration – obviously following protocol set forth by Michelle Obama – released regulations that would force public schools not to sell soda and candy. According to the US Department of Agriculture regulations, granola would replace candy, and soda would go by the wayside:

Although nutrition standards for foods sold at school alone may not be a determining factor in children's overall diets, they are critical to providing children with healthy food options throughout the entire school day … Thus, these standards will help to ensure that the school nutrition environment does all that it can to promote healthy choice, and help to prevent diet-related health problems.

In typical federal government fashion, the rules run a full 160 pages. They do not ban juice, and call for foods to be fruit, vegetable, dairy, protein, whole-grain, or a combination thereof.

Of course, most students will either forego the healthy snacks or throw them out. But wasting taxpayer money has never been a problem for this administration.
