During the 2012 election cycle, the Obama re-election machine claimed that Mitt Romney didn’t care about Detroit. In fact, Obama’s lackeys in the media suggested that Romney wanted Detroit to go completely defunct rather than bailing out the automakers. Now, it appears that Romney may prove them wrong. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will look to appoint someone to oversee the handling of Detroit, which has been handed over to the State of Michigan due to its complete destruction at the hands of Democrats. And Snyder is reportedly considering Mitt Romney as that manager.

The post, known as Emergency Financial Manager, would suit Romney well. He has experience with Detroit, and he obviously is a turnaround specialist. Carol Cain of the local CBS affiliate says that Romney would be a good pick. “Mitt Romney: possible savior of the Motor City? The suggestion isn’t as farfetched as it sounds,” writes Cain.

No matter who takes over as EFM of Detroit, fixing the city will be an uphill battle. The unions are entrenched, and the manufacturing base is dead; real estate values are nonexistent. But if there’s anybody who has the background necessary to deal with Detroit’s disastrous situation, Romney is it.
