Reid: GOP Should Purge Tea Party
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is fed up with Tea Party conservatives and wants Republicans to get rid of them to make life easier for Democrats in the Senate.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, Reid, in an interview with "To the Point" that will air on Saturday, "said the key to solving what he has labeled as Republican obstruction is for the party to rid itself of so-called Tea Party Republicans."
Tea Party Republicans in the Senate like Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Mike Lee (R-UT) have not only frustrated old bulls on the left like Reid but also institutional Republicans like Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). The former GOP presidential candidate referred to Tea Party legislators like Cruz and Paul as "wacko birds" and has criticized them for not playing by what he deems to be the established rules in the Senate.
