CT Dems Push to Make Starbucks 'Gun Free Zone'

Representative Elizabeth Esty (D-CT) joined Senators Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) to demand Starbucks change its firearm policy and bar law-abiding patrons from carrying guns on Starbucks property.

In effect, they want to turn Starbucks into the same kind of “gun free zone” that has allowed many of our nation’s most heinous crimes to take place. Most notably in this instance, Sandy Hook Elementary.

According to The Hill, the three Democrats sent a letter to Starbucks chief executive Howard Schultz asking that he “foster a culture of peace and ban guns from [Starbucks’] stores.”

Esty, Murphy, and Blumenthal claim the current Starbucks policy which “allows customers to carry firearms, including concealed weapons, in accordance with local laws,” actually undermines “the safety and well-being” of citizens.

The three Democrats are asking Schultz to meet with them in Newtown to discuss their proposed gun ban.

As Breitbart News pointed out in August when reporting on the creation of similar gun free zones in Seattle, if Starbucks does in fact change their firearm policy they will be informing every criminal around the country that no one in these coffee shops can defend themselves in the event of a crime.
