Dems Desperate for Obamacare Fix as President Embarks on Fundraising Tour

As November 30th draws near, the target date for Healthcare.gov to attain functionality, President Obama is heading to San Francisco and Los Angeles to fill the Democrat party coffers. Knowing the President is hobnobbing with the entertainment industry’s elite isn’t consoling Democrat congressional hopefuls that would prefer he was focusing on fixing his broken health care system.

Democrat congressional contenders are panicking while suffering from the assault of Obamacare on their victory dreams for this coming midterm election. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debby Wasserman Schultz say the storm will blow over and everything will be alright by the time Americans make it to the polls in 2014. But some Democratic strategists think this is a serious act of denial shared by many of the party leaders, including the White House.

Nancy Pelosi, speaking to a group hosted by BuzzFeed, said “we’re proud” of Obamacare and it will not “hurt us in 2014.” Schultz insisted on a recent CNN news program that Obamacare will be “an advantage” for candidates in 2014. She also told reporters, “Democrats will run on the Affordable Care Act and win.” Meanwhile, White House spokesman Jay Carney claims Obama is taking the high road and dismisses any notion that Obamacare is perceived negatively: “The fact is that [the president] is focused on delivering the access to quality and affordable health insurance to the American people that the Affordable Care Act promises. He’s not concerned about the politics.”

Despite this expressed optimism, a recent CBS news poll suggests that Democrats should be very concerned about the politics. Obama just notched the lowest approval rating ever in that survey, registering a dismal 37%, while his troubled Obamacare law received only a 31% approval rating. Adding fuel to the fire, the Koch brothers, via Americans for Prosperity, are injecting $4 million in TV ads aimed at congressional Democrats and their backing of the Affordable Care Act.

One veteran Democrat pollster experienced in tight political races remarked, “We’re trying to deny what everyone knows is happening. Anybody who is halfway intelligent knows this is a big problem for us. It’s impossible not to see. We can try to hide our heads in the sand and pretend it’s not a problem, but it is.”

Regarding Obamacare, Charles Krauthammer sees what Democrat candidates see and that their leaders appear blind to: “It is not abstract like Solyndra. It’s the real stuff in your real life. And it is now in collapse.”

“If it continues unless it is somehow rescued and they make it work, this will be a story of an epic collapse of the central element of a new kind of liberalism and this ideology will go down with the policy,” he stated. “That’s why liberals are so afraid of this thing collapsing and they are in horror at the train wreck that they are now witnessing.”
