On Thursday, a 68-year-old disabled Vietnam War veteran named Joseph Sapienza pulled a .45 handgun and stopped home invaders from coming through his front door.
Sapienza uses a walker to move around in his house and he had a gun in a holster attached to his walker in case someone tried to take advantage of him.
According to the Gaston Gazette, Sapienza heard the suspects trying to break into his Gastonia, North Carolina home. He shuffled to the door, announced that he was armed, “and yanked the door open to see two men wearing ski masks.” The would-be home invaders fled upon seeing the armed homeowner.
Sapienza said: “When they saw the .45, one ran up one street, and the other went the other way.”
After the incident was over Sapienza taped a note to his door for the suspects to see should they return. The note reads: “(If) you try to break in my house again, I will be waiting on you. Enter at your own risk.”
