Fox Comedy Changes Name After Trayvon Martin Killing

There’s nothing funny about the promotional damage control behind the scenes at Fox’s upcoming summer comedy “Neighborhood Watch.”

Or, at least the film formerly known as “Neighborhood Watch.”

The comedy, starring Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Ben Stiller, didn’t have much to worry about until a neighborhood watcher named George Zimmerman killed a Florida teen, Trayvon Martin, earlier this year under still-unknown circumstances.

The studio is now calling the film simply “The Watch.” It remains to be seen if the shuffling will impact the film’s box office grosses. This summer’s movie lineup is heavy on action, light on fluffy comedy. It’s likely the name change won’t hurt the movie, although the choice of such a generic title just might.
