Happy Warrior Andrew Breitbart's Legacy Lives On

One year ago, conservatives everywhere received the shocking news that Andrew Breitbart had passed away. He was only 43 years old.

I am proud to have been able to work with him and call him a friend. Andrew and I spent countless hours together tackling the big issues, and I was honored to speak at his memorial service. His kindness, enthusiasm, and passion were infectious. Andrew had a gift and a way of making us all feel like we were his best friends. We lost a dear friend and ally last year, but he won’t be forgotten.

In her eulogy to President Ronald Reagan, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said, “We have one advantage that Ronald Reagan did not have. We have the benefit of his example.”

As the conservative movement moves forward, Andrew’s legacy lives on and serves as an example to us all. He provided us a unique joy as the ultimate happy warrior that we can all embrace. If there is anything the world should know and remember about Andrew, let history record that he was devoted to his family, to his beliefs, and to his country. He was fearless in everything he did.

When defending the values and principles that make this republic so great, each of us would do well to emulate the passion of Andrew Breitbart.

He knew it and we know it--this nation is worth fighting for.

Andrew, we miss you. We love you. You will always and forever live on in our hearts.
