Fatwa: Killing Foreign Diplomats Approved by Islamic Law

A prominent Salafi-Jihadi cleric has come forth with a fatwa to approve of the killing of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and any other diplomats that Islamists prefer to murder. When questioned about whether the killing of Ambassador Stevens was legitimate according to Islamic law, because he had nothing to do with the film that supposedly catalyzed the attacks, Sheikh Abu Mundhir Al-Shinqiti said that ambassadors cannot be considered “couriers”, who must be protected, but instead are simply official representatives of a state, and are thus eligible for assassination.
