Key Figure in Morsi Admin: Holocaust Never Happened, Made Up to Justify War

As the world paused in reflection on Jan. 27–Holocaust Remembrance Day–Fathi Shihab Eddim, a key figure in Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s administration, said the Holocaust was “a hoax cooked up by U.S. intelligence operatives.”

He also suggested that six million Jews were not killed by Hitler, but rather moved to the U.S.

Eddim described the Holocaust as a story the U.S. invented “to justify war and massive destruction against military and civilian facilities of the Axis powers, and especially to hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the Atomic bomb.”

I’m sure Eddim knows this, but neither Hiroshima nor Nagasaki are in Germany. They were not bombed in August 1945 to stop Germany, which had already surrendered in May 1945. Instead, they were bombed in order to end the war in the Pacific that had followed Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor (Dec. 7, 1941).

Eddim’s comments come after comments Morsi himself made about Jews in March 2010, when he described them as “the descendants of apes and pigs.”
