Speaking from Qatar, Secretary of State John Kerry acknowledged that the U.S. is indeed training Syrian rebels.
This means that in addition to the $60 million the Obama admin has already admitted to providing, we are also presumably training the rebels in fighting tactics.
Kerry shied away from detailing exactly what the training entails. He would only says that "a lot of countries" are providing training as well, and that "President Assad needs to read the tea leaves correctly."
No explanation was given for how the U.S. and the other countries are differentiating between rebels opposed to Assad and those who are affiliated with Al Qaeda, waiting for their chance to seize weapons and power should Assad's regime fall.
