South Korea: North Korea Sending Drones Near the DMZ
On May 8th South Korea's Foreign Ministry said three drones captured near the border between North and South Korea were sent by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the official name of the North Korean government.
According to Xinhua, South Korean defense ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok said a "U.S-South Korea joint investigation team conducted a scientific probe into three DPRK drones after announcing an interim probe result on April 11."
An investigation into the drones' CPU chips shows the drones were programmed to take off and return to North Korea via flight patterns that were "pre-arranged... via [a] global positioning system."
