George Lucas Museum May Snare Prime Calif. Real Estate

George Lucas no longer controls the Force now that he sold his beloved Star Wars franchise to Disney for a cool $4.05 billion.

That doesn’t mean the filmmaker lacks clout. Consider the auteur’s museum project, a place where he’ll be able to store a lifetime’s worthy of movie memorabilia. Blasters. Light sabres. You name it.

The proposed museum may end up snaring prime time real estate near the Bay Bridge, according to the San Francisco Business Times.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee plans to officially offer the site for a museum to house the “Star Wars” creator’s collection of and Hollywood memorabilia, the Chronicle reported.

Seawall Lot 330 is a site that’s across the Embarcadero from Piers 30-32, where the Golden State Warriors once planned to build their 18,000-seat arena. Now the team is looking at Mission Bay.

The seventh film in the Star Wars series, the first without Lucas’ direct involvement, is currently in production.
