Fort Myers, FL Officially Becomes 'Dunk City'

Florida Gulf Coast University, the first No. 15 seed to make it to the Sweet 16, hails from Fort Myers, Florida, and the city changed its official website on Monday to dub the city as #DunkCity, Florida.

On Friday, as FGCU was upsetting No. 2 Georgetown, the school’s official Twitter account tweeted, “When people ask you where FGCU is, just tell them Dunk City, Florida!”

The Eagles have electrified college basketball fans with their “anvil” and “hammer” dunks and alley-oops. Chase Fieler and Eric McKnight have thrown down some dunks that have defied belief.

Florida Gulf Coast will play No. 3 Florida in the Sweet 16 on Friday.

Here is Fieler’s elbow-above-the-rim slam.

Here is McKnight’s monster dunk.

And here is the Florida Gulf Coast “Dunk City” music video.
