Catholic Youth Group Drops Women's Tennis Star over Nude ESPN Photo Shoot
Despite being the number four player in the world, Agnieszka Radwanska is learning that the moral teachings of her church still apply to her.
Although known for frequently broadcasting her Catholic faith, the tennis star decided to pose nude in ESPN's Body Issue. That decision has resulted in her removal from any future campaigns of the Polish youth group Krucjata Mlodych (meaning, Youth Crusade) which had previously featured her in ads where she spelled Jesus with tennis balls and encouraged youth to be proud of their faith.
Now, the group has ended the relationship, declaring the nude shoot to be "immoral behavior."
A Senior Catholic priest, Father Marek Dziewiecki, was particularly critical of Radwanka saying "it's a shame that someone who has declared their love for Jesus is now promoting the mentality of men looking at a woman as a thing rather than a child of God respect and love."
He went on to express concern for her future family. "If she meets a man who she can truly love and establish a happy family and raise Catholic children, then she would probably have to hide these pictures from relatives."
