Braun in 2012: I'd 'Bet My Life' PEDs Didn't Enter My Body

After winning his appeal on a technicality in 2012, disgraced Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun said he would bet his life that the performance-enhancing substance in question never entered his body.

"I would bet my life that this substance never entered my body at any point," Braun said at a 2012 press conference (1:18 mark in the video below). "I've tried to handle the entire situation with honor, with integrity, with class, with dignity, and with professionalism because that’s who I am and that’s how I’ve always lived my life."

He continued, "If I had done this intentionally or unintentionally, I’d be the first one to step up and say ‘I did it.’  By no means am I perfect but if I’ve ever made any mistakes in my life I’ve taken responsibility for my actions. "

Braun also said he was standing up for everyone who has been wrongly accused.

On Monday, Braun admitted that he violated baseball's drug policy and accepted his suspension without pay for the remainder of the season. He had previously been suspended for 50 games for failing a drug test before it got overturned on procedural grounds.
