Sandusky Victim Claim Against Penn State Settled

“Victim 5” in the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal settled his civil claim against Penn State University (PSU) for several million dollars. This is the first of 26 settlements against the university–31 men accused Sandusky of sexual abuse when they were children.

The man testified against Sandusky at his trial last year and is considered to be one of the more serious cases because it happened in August 2001 after top officials at PSU were notified of Sandusky’s behavior with another boy in the shower. Michael Rozen is one lawyer the university hired to handle the claims and he spoke with the The Philadelphia Inquirer:

“The pivotal issue from the university’s perspective in dealing with the victims is where the incident occurred and when it occurred proximate to the 2001 shower incident,” Rozen told the paper.

PSU hopes they can compensate the victims as quickly as possible. Their trustees allowed $60 million to be used for the claims.

Eight men testified against Sandusky last year. He is now serving a 30 to 60 year prison sentence for child molestation and other crimes.
