The parents of released prisoner of war U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, Bob and Jani Bergdahl held a press conference to thank the U.S. government and “the biker dudes and dudettes” for all their hard work and help in freeing their son.
Bergdahl, the last known American POW, held since 2009 by the Taliban in Afghanistan was exchanged for five Islamic militants held at Guantanamo Bay. One of the prisoners is Taliban leader Khairullah Khairkhwa, who had direct ties to Osama bin Laden.
Bowe’s father Bob thanked the “people in Idaho, and then throughout America” for their “huge support,” adding, “Bowe’s actually got millions of people around the world who are supporting him.”
