MA State Senator: We Learned About Illegals on 'Social Media'

Massachusetts State Senator Richard Moore (D-Uxbridge) stated that state officials were unaware of the planeloads of illegal immigrants who were flown into the state “until we started hearing rumors basically on social media that planes were being landed.” Moore expressed his disagreement with the Obama administration for not notifying Massachusetts officials, arguing “I think we have a right to know. It certainly should be made available. I don’t think this is any reason why it should be kept quiet. We should know about it. If it’s an appropriate process that’s been going on, it shouldn’t be a big deal for anyone.”

He added that since mid-April seven flights of illegals have touched down in the state, and argued that while the state is being reimbursed for housing the detainees, he was worried diseases could spread throughout the state’s county jails or if an immigrant was “released or if they escape into the general population.” Moore also said that the state could be liable if inmates inside a county jail contracted an infectious disease from one of the illegals housed there.
