Dick Wolf Rewrites History Again with 'SVU's' Paula Deen/Trayvon Martin Mashup

A recent episode of Law & Order: SVU took part in the famous "ripped from the headlines" niche that Dick Wolf famously created so long ago. The problem is the episode, titled American Tragedy, seemed to be informed merely by celebrity tweets and threw story to the wind to make weird political points. Oct 8, 2013 10:23 AM PT

Age of Obama: Paramount Lays Off 110 Employees

We keep hearing how much better the economy is getting under Obama yet all we see and hear is bad news. The facts just don't support the claim unless they are influenced in various ways to look good like many media outlets seem to have been doing for the past few years. Here's some more "good news" about the economy.  Oct 6, 2013 10:26 AM PT

BH Interview: Keaton Simons Keeps Focus on Music, Fans Amidst 'Bubble Gum Bullsh*t'

It's hard to find someone like Keaton Simons these days. He's an independent musician more interested in pushing his craft and connecting to fans than twerking on stage and doing things for shock value. A real musician is a breath of fresh air amongst the Miley Cyrus craziness and Robin Thocke ridiculousness today. It seems more and more that music is dying as more and more crap is pushed on the masses. That is until you find independent musicians like Keaton Simons still making music that can be called music and finding real success despite shunning major labels. Oct 6, 2013 8:58 AM PT

'This is the End' Blu-Ray Review: Apocalyptic Comedy Packs Laughs, Spiritual Appeal

The opening of This is the End is almost unbearable. It confirms our worst fears about movies where actors play themselves. It's a party at James Franco's house and we get to watch as countless celebrities play on their on screen and real life personalities. It's not funny and it's fully pretentious. Luckily, it ends with almost all of them dying and the world coming to an end. Oct 2, 2013 2:42 PM PT

'The Frozen Ground' Blu-Ray Review: Fine Performances Lift Generic Serial Killer Story

The Frozen Ground is a film about the hunt to catch real life serial killer Robert Hansen. He was an Alaskan man that kidnapped and killed between seventeen and twenty one girls. Frozen Ground tracks the police investigation that caught the killer and shows us both the maniac's perspective and the perspective of the heroic police officers working through the night to catch him. It's an important story worth telling right. Frozen Ground doesn't quite hit the mark, unfortunately. Oct 1, 2013 5:22 AM PT

'Scenic Route' DVD Review: Road Trip Disaster Exceeds Expectations

I'm not in the mood to write a traditional review so let me tell you a story instead. A few days ago I got a package in the mail. I knew it was a screener and was excited. Who wouldn't be excited about a free movie or free stuff in general? I cut open the package and, hate to say it, but my excitement fell a little bit. It was a DVD copy of some movie called Scenic Route. Sep 26, 2013 3:01 PM PT
