House GOP Plans Vote on Obama's 2014 Blank Page Budget

In the latest GOP attempt to demonstrate just how unpalatable President Obama’s fiscal plans are, Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) is apparently preparing to set a vote on Obama’s 2014 budget. The gimmick: Obama’s 2014 budget hasn’t been handed over. It’s a blank page.

“He is planning to offer the president’s budget … as he did last year,” an aide told The Hill. “Except this year, the president hasn’t submitted anything. So it will be blank.” The measure would be offered as an amendment to the Paul Ryan budget. Last year, Mulvaney offered Obama’s 2013 budget for a vote. It received zero votes.

Under law, Obama should have turned over a proposed budget by February 4. The White House claims that they will turn one over by April 8. It is likely that the 2014 budget, when it is turned in, will meet the same fate as the 2013 budget, given that Obama’s spending addiction has not wavered.
