In the days following the Benghazi terrorist attack, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her top advisers were busy. They were designing a new nonprofit group for Clinton and her husband Bill to raise money in Ireland.

Clinton Foundation official Amitabh Desai sent an email on September 21, 2012, just ten days after Benghazi, to a mixed group of Clinton State Department staffers including top Hillary aides Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin and Clinton Foundation employees including Doug Band and Laura Graham. Desai reported that Hillary Clinton was urgently engaged in setting up a flexible new fundraising apparatus for herself.

“Stella O’Leary called to say she saw HRC this week and that HRC ‘firmly instructed’ her to urgently form a 501c3 called Friends of the Clinton Centre,” Desai said in the email, which Breitbart News obtained from Citizen United’s Freedom of Information Act lawsuit for Clinton emails.

“Stella said she’s now working with counsel to create it,” Desai wrote.

I asked that she send us  copy of the document(s) before they’re executed, and she said she would. I also asked if the new org could be flexible so that any funding raised could be used in whatever manner WJC and HRC wish in Ireland and Northern Ireland, and not restricted to support only the current iteration of the Clinton Centre in Enniskillen (which I think needs some more thought and development and after CGI we’ll prepare options for WJC’s review). Stella said yes, the new fundraising vehicle would be flexible. She said she believes the American Ireland Fund could put money into it and that she would enjoy fundraising for it too. She said she’d like to see a board formed for it with all of WJC’s Ireland folks on it – she mentioned herself and Declan and Fitzpatrick and a couple others. Wanted to be sure everyone is in the loop and I’d welcome your feedback.

“Surprised to hear this – checking w/her,” replied Cheryl Mills on her official State Department government email account.

“Jake was in meeting so he can verify. but HRC had said she made no commitments to her,” chimed in top Clinton aide Huma Abedin on an email address that was redacted.

As Breitbart News reported, Clinton’s State Department was also dealing with other big issues in the weeks after Benghazi, including bamboo flooring and email complications.

“My bigger problem right now is I can’t even get into my clinton email and I wanted to print all the latest documents to go through line by line with Oscar,” Huma Abedin wrote to Clinton Foundation director Stephanie Streett while discussing flooring options on October 10, 2012. “May need them re-sent to this email but will let you know if I can’t figure it out here first.”

“I meant that my email was completely down so I can [sic] even access the last bio script,” Abedin added. “Would just need it sent to this email. But hopefully its up and running soon.”
