Two Georgia Police Officers Shot While Serving Warrant in Georgia

A pair of police officers serving a warrant outside of Macon, Georgia, were shot early Monday morning, according to Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials.

The police officers were shot during a drug task force operation at a home in Byron, Georgia, GBI Special Agent J.T. Ricketson told Fox News.

Members of the task force pounded on the door of the home but received no answer. The door was then rammed, and as police entered the home, shots were allegedly fired by an occupant. Police returned fire, killing the assailant.

“Officer William Patterson was treated at Navicent Health in Macon and released… The other officer, James Wynn, was seriously injured and had to undergo surgery,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The name of the shooter has not been released.

Agent Ricketson also noted that the suspect’s girlfriend and her baby were in the home but were not injured during the incident.
