Nearly Two out of Five Swing-Voters Say DACA Amnesty ‘Should Not Be a Priority’

Almost two out of five swing-voters say giving amnesty to illegal aliens shielded from deportation under the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program “should not be a priority” for President Trump or the GOP-led Congress.

New polling by POLITICO and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health reveals the lack of support among swing-voters for a year-end amnesty for nearly 800,000 DACA illegal aliens.

Roughly 37 percent of swing-voters now say that an end-of-the-year push by the Republican establishment and Democrats to give amnesty to DACA illegal aliens should be prioritized. Additionally, only 18 percent of Independents say DACA amnesty is an “extremely important priority” for them.

In contrast, 25 percent of swing-voters want the federal government to prioritize reducing prescription drug prices and reducing the number of Americans dying from opioid abuse, two issues Trump promised to his supporters that he would tackle under his populist administration.

Support among swing-voters to quickly give DACA illegal aliens amnesty has fallen greatly since Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced in September that the federal program would officially end in March 2018.

For instance, as Breitbart News reported, a separate poll from this month showed that only about 20 percent of swing-voters said they would like to see the federal government shut down in order for DACA illegal aliens to get a pathway to U.S. citizenship via amnesty.

Since September, support for a year-end DACA amnesty among swing-voters has plummetted by a whopping 17 percentage points. At that time, 35 percent of swing-voters supported a quick amnesty for DACA illegal aliens.

Despite little support for amnesty for illegal aliens, Democrats, the Republican establishment, the cheap labor industry, big business and the open borders lobby have teamed up to relentlessly push for legalizing up to 3.5 million illegal aliens who are on the DACA rolls or eligible for DACA.

The latest effort to pass pro-American immigration reforms — such as halving legal immigration down to 500,000 immigrants a year by ending the process of “chain migration” where new immigrants being allowed to bring their foreign relatives to the U.S. — is coupled with an amnesty for DACA illegal aliens.

Though the end to chain migration is tacked onto an amnesty, by greatly reducing legal immigration levels, where the U.S. currently admits more than one million immigrants a year, American wages would rise and blue-collar U.S. workers would be relieved from having to compete with the current immigrant-flooded labor market.

At the same time, an amnesty for illegal aliens would betray President Trump’s base of supporters, as he adamantly opposed any such plan during the 2016 presidential election.
