'Rock the Red' Rebounds, Finds New Venue

'Rock the Red' Rebounds, Finds New Venue

“The rumors of (its) death have been greatly exaggerated.” ~ Mark Twain

Rock the Red 2012,” a Charlotte-based event touted as the “Queen City’s alternative to the DNC,” is indeed back on and is still slated for the original date of Sept. 5, but it will now be held at The Hunter Farm in Weddington, NC., a sprawling venue that has hosted many outdoor festivals.

Not to be deterred by a major set-back last Wednesday, when the event was cancelled, the organizers assured those who had purchased tickets they would find another venue with just six days to make it happen.

And in true conservative style … they did.

In an email sent to all current ticket holders to the event, the organizers said:

This has been a long journey for all of us, and we can’t tell you how amazing it feels to have so many people supporting us. We want Rock the Red to be a fun, exciting time for families and fellow conservatives. Over the past few days, we’ve had overwhelming support as well as vicious attacks. We know you have all been searching for answers, and we do apologize that the answers have not come sooner. Some of this cancellation took us by storm, and we did not want to come to you before we had an alternate plan in place. Thankfully, through the support of gracious fellow conservatives, we have that plan.

While the original headliners, Charlie Daniels Band, Travis Tritt, and Lee Brice will no longer be performing, there will be plenty of great music provided by The Chris Lane Band, Lisa Mei, Troy Cook, Jr., Kelly Collins, and Craving Jane with many more local artists/bands willing to offer their talents.

Rock the Red has a great line-up of speakers as well, including “America’s Toughest Sheriff” – Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Congressman Mick Mulvaney, South Carolina attorney General Alan Wilson, NC Lt. Governor candidate Dan Forest, and teen blogger/Big Hollywood contributor Madeleine McAulay, with more to come.

The original major sponsors of the event, FRC Action/Heritage Foundation’s Values Bus and the 60 Plus Healthcare Freedom Tour Bus are still scheduled to attend. BigDawg Music Mafia is also still on board as a music sponsor.

The latest update from Rock the Red organizers is posted on their Facebook page:

The cost of the event will be $5 per person and parking will be free. Children under 12 are welcome to attend at no charge.  Current military or veterans will be honored guests, free of charge — they’ve more than made their contributions to the cause. This is going to be a great day of sharing the conservative message with your neighbors, friends and families under Carolina Blue skies, sitting around on hay bales enjoying some great music & food, and waiting for the stars to come out—this will be a great family friendly event, and a memorable day for all.

Tickets for the new venue can be purchased at the Rock the Red site. Current ticket holders (to the original event) have been contacted with additional options and have been asked to RSVP. The organizers are also offering refunds for those who would like one.
