Report: Lady Gaga to Headline 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Pop superstar Lady Gaga is set to headline the 2017 NFL Super Bowl halftime show, according to a report.

Us Weekly reports that the 30-year-old “Fame Monster” will perform February 5, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Gaga just last week released her latest single, “Perfect Illusion,” which presumably has a good chance of showing up in her set during the big game. Gaga’s next full-length album, Joanne, will be released October 21.

Gaga has had a big year. In February, she belted out a memorable version of the National Anthem ahead of Super Bowl 50.

“This is one of the highest honors of my career,” she explained at the time. “I get a chance to sing for all the athletes — who have been working so hard their whole lives for this moment — the coaches, as well as the fans in the stands who are waiting for this moment. I think it marks what being an American is all about.”

Later that month, she performed a tribute to the late David Bowie at the Grammy Awards and sang her Oscar-nominated song “Till It Happens to You” at the Oscars.

British pop superstar Adele was previously rumored to be taking on the high-profile gig.

Here’s hoping Gaga doesn’t get stage fright; the Super Bowl halftime show will almost certainly draw more than 100 million viewers in the U.S. and tens of millions more around the world, making it the most-watched concert event of the year.

Last year’s halftime show featured Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyoncé, who stirred controversy with a Black Panther Party-inspired performance that critics called an overt attack on law enforcement.
