In response to The left is quite open about its intentions:
It’s always nice to see their nefarious tactics in writing:
A second way [other than defeat] to demoralize conservative activists is
to surround them with the echo chamber of our positions and
assumptions. We need to make them feel that they are not mainstream, to make them feel isolated. We need to use the bandwagon effect in reverse…We must isolate them ideologically…
Says Obama ally Robert Creamer writing from jail.
Creamer’s no idiot – they’ve had astounding success with this. But it’s not so much the conservative activists who are effected by their attempts to discredit mainstream opinions – it’s the conservative/moderate rank and file. Most conservative activists are immune to their Alinsky-BS, but average Americans are not. That’s why last year’s “war on women” demagoguery was so effective. With generous assists from Akin and Mourdock, months and months of what looked to us like the most absurd demagoguery imaginable, (including Code Pinkos in V-jay suits), took its toll – support for abortion actually increased.
People don’t want to be thought of as “extremist”. No one wants to think their opinions are stupid, hateful or unpopular.
On the other hand, you may have noticed that Obama likes to talk about “our American values”, as if his far left views are mainstream. He does it frequently, and it always causes me to chafe because whenever he does it, chances are good that he’s advancing something very much at odds with our American values.
