The Whitehall inquiry into First Secretary of State Damian Green has been widened after claims police found “extreme” pornography on his computers.
According to former Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick, a police raid uncovered the material on computers in Mr Green’s parliamentary office during an inquiry into government leaks in 2008, The Times reports.
But the former police chief said he was made to quit his job before he was able to report the discovery to the parliamentary authorities, resigning after he was photographed with a secret briefing note on which sensitive information concerning anti-terror operations could be seen.
Mr Quick had reported that police unearthed material of “an extreme pornographic nature” on computer evidence taken from the Tory MP’s office in a draft statement to the Leveson inquiry — which took place during 2011 and 2012.
“No criminal offences were involved, but it was recognised that if similar circumstances pertained to a public servant, such as a member of a police force, this could result in gross misconduct proceedings and dismissal,” he said in a draft statement.
The former police chief will give evidence on Monday to an inquiry into Mr Green’s behaviour already underway by Whitehall’s head of propriety and ethics, Sue Gray.

The Cabinet Office inquiry was triggered after Tory activist Kate Maltby alleged that the First Secretary of State made inappropriate sexual advances to her, which he strongly denies.
Mr Green denounced the computer claims, stating that the story is “completely untrue” and “comes from a tainted and untrustworthy source”.
He added: “The allegations about the material and computer, now nine years old, are false, disreputable political smears from a discredited police officer acting in flagrant breach of his duty to keep the details of police investigations confidential, and amount to little more than an unscrupulous character assassination.”

Last month, Breitbart London editor-in-chief Raheem Kassam slammed Mr Green after he claimed the new media outlet spread “fake news” that could lead to more politicians like the late Jo Cox being murdered.
“For Downing Street to roll out one of the government’s top dogs is proof of how terrified they are of our continued exposure of Theresa May’s track record of failure, on Brexit, on law and order, and on tackling radical Islam,” Kassam told the Telegraph.
“Damian Green had no problem campaigning alongside me years ago against the idea of a national government ID scheme, but now he’s in government he’s warning that we are ‘dangerous’?
“Well, I take pride in that. We are dangerous. Dangerous to the political elite. Dangerous to the status quo. And dangerous to the strain of left-liberalism that runs through the Conservative Party. Deal with it”.
Green has yet to respond to a request for comment from Breitbart London.
