Poll: Israelis Don't Want Olmert

Ehud Olmert is contemplating a return to the Prime Minister’s chair. The former Prime Minister of Israel from 2006-2009, offered East Jerusalem to the Palestinians , and reiterated his position in May of this year when he said Jews should give up the idea of a united Jerusalem.

According to a new poll conducted by the Jerusalem Post and Globes, Olmert, who was acquitted of corruption charges this past summer, should sit down and be quiet – and the most vociferous of his naysayers come from his own party.

Among all Israelis, 63% said he shouldn’t run. Among supporters of Olmert’s own party, Kadima, a whopping 61% said he should back off.  Only 10% of Kadima supporters want him to run, as opposed to 14% among Likud-Beytenu backers, 28% among Laborites, and 37% among people who will support former journalist Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid party.
