Rangers sign Honduras international Peralta

Honduran international midfielder Arnold Peralta has agreed to join Rangers on a four-year contract, subject to the issue of a work permit, the Scottish giants announced on Monday.

Rangers are currently under a transfer embargo, meaning that Peralta cannot be officially registered as a player until September 1, but the 24-year-old will link up with the squad for pre-season training.

“I am delighted to be joining a club with the size and history of Rangers,” Peralta told the club website.

“I had several offers from Europe, MLS (Major League Soccer) and at home in Honduras, but when I was told I could sign for Rangers, it was an easy decision.

“I am really looking forward to pulling on that famous blue shirt and getting out on the Ibrox pitch. Hopefully the club and fans will appreciate what I can bring to the team.”

Peralta has played for his country 13 times and arrives from Honduran club Vida.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist said: “We are delighted Arnold has agreed to join us. We went over and watched him playing for Honduras against Panama and he performed well. He will certainly give us a bit of bite in the middle of the park.”
